It is always refreshing to see unexpected people participating in dance. I think that this shows how much dance is actually embedded within the body. It is a dancer's quest to find and hone dance within their own body.

Wow... I think that's amazing. I think it's fun to watch him have so much fun with dancing. He's very passionate about it. He really captures the idea that dancing should be fun and enjoyable.

How heartwarming was that?? I'd like to say congratulations to the man in the video for pursuing a dream of his. I guess the saying "old dogs can't learn new tricks" is completely wrong. It is also great to see the physical benefits he is gaining from dancing, it seems like dance is a great remedy for all sorts of aliments.

I think to be in any professional in any field, you have to like the profession first and enojoy the work, and never get tire of what you have been doing the whole time from your preffesion. The 88 years old balleft dancer is amazing, even thou he was so old but he still enjoy so much for his profession and he still be able to be a teacher to teach our new generation for ballet. This tells me no matter what age you are, you are still learning new stuff. I feel that 88 year old ballet dancer is always been enjoy his profession and none stop learning. We all should learn from him from this type of attutide.

It is exciting that you have your whole life to pursue new interests and try new things. It's cool that the gentleman in the movie is enjoying a new hobby that is physically and emotionally rewarding for him.

This helps me appreciate the fact that I am learning at a young age. I had the opportunity to take dance at a very young age. While I did take a 5-6 year break I came back to it and I will always have Ballet in my heart. It's really awesome for new people to experience it before it is too late. It has such great influence on your life. To practice it at such an old age is such a blessing. I have always dreamed of still doing ballet as I get older. I had a ballet teacher whose instructor still taught when he was nearly 110(not sure might be exaggerating but he was at least 100) from his wheel chair. Thank you for sharing Megan!

I'm amazed! That was inspiring! He never gave up on his dream, even at the age of 88! I think it's great that he's pursuing his passion.

Two comments particularly caught my ear in that little special. I think that we can all relate to this one: "You come home, perhaps physically tired, but uplifted." in that working hard in class is what makes us feel so good at the end of the day. There's nothing better than something that makes you feel good.

This second one, spoken in the most gleeful old man tone, "I could drop dead anytime I suppose..." is amazing in that, first of all, it's hysterical (not in a morbid sense, just the way he says it with such good nature). Secondly because this is also true for us all. Even if it's 80 years from now we will still all eventually end and it's incredible that we have evolved this ability to ignore or come to terms with our inevitable demise and still live our lives in the happiest manner possible.
I'd like to bring these little quotes with me to ballet on Friday and remind myself that ballet is good. Also, I may fall over at any moment...(wicked witch of the west style) so keep your eyes peeled.

Havin' a good time, Hope you are as well.

it's cool to see that he enjoys dancing so much and that he's willing to learn at such an old age. this shows that you never stops learning.
you will be able to do everything if you have the willingness and passion for it.

I realized he looks way way younger than his age. Although he is 88 year old, he seems passionate and energetic enough to be a great dancer , who has an original skill of expression that young people can not achieve.

I think it really drives home the point that a n y o n e c a n d a n c e. It also shows that you can start learning ballet at any time. Sometimes it's easy to think everyone who dances in college began dancing during early childhood. But there are many who started in high school, or just recently at the UW. It's great to know that other people are starting wayyy later in life as well!

I think that Grandpa John is a cutie and a great inspiration to all those kids. He is proving how dancing is not just about perfect technique, but also about the love of movement.

That's awesome! Honestly, I would love to still be dancing when I'm that old but I really don't know if I would be able to when I get to that age. I think for him to be able to dance and enjoy it definitely adds some excitement into his life. He looks quite graceful and able to keep up with the movements. It's never too late to learn.

it honestly just makes me super happy to see old people being active at all.... i'm kinda scared of getting old! However this man has made me so happy and little less scared about getting old. I love how he just barely started ballet and discovered a passion for dance. It's also great seeing all the little kids dancing too!

This is great! I love when ballet is taken by nontraditional dancers because it means it doesn't have to be elitest.

i think that this is super cool! it shows you you are never to old to dance. It keeps you young and in his case healthy. Also i feel that it is a stereotype that dancers are very young and in reality you don't really see old dancers. Its refreshing to see someone doing what they loves and overcoming stereotypes.

wow that is incredible...good for him for taking the step to pursue a dream he's always been interested in. And what a great way to enjoy staying in shape and doing something great for your body especially as it ages! Good find!

That was such a fun video. It is really important for people to stay active as they get older, and I have always thought of dance as a great way to stay in shape. Watching this video was really encouraging, and made me realize how many years of dance I have ahead of me. I would like to think that I too might still be in good enough shape to do ballet when I am in my late 80's.

This was really awesome. It's always great to see people of all ages participate in dance. It breaks down the barriers and the ideas that ballet is only for a certain group. Dancing should be fun and come from the heart. This man really demonstrates this idea.

I loved the comments that the little girls in the video made about the man. I think it's amazing that he is as active and involved as he is and how his love for life and dance are so apparent, even just in the way he talks.

It's wonderful.. to find something you enjoy and love at such an age. As I get older, I hope my body and age will not stop me from doing something I love so much, especially dancing.! =)

I am amazed as well as inspired that someone has the strength and dreams to dance despite his old age. This tells me that it is never too late to fulfill your dreams. By doing so, this man has surely inspired others to do the same.

Awww man, that was great! What a great lesson to learn; one has to keep learning their whole lives through. We don't stop just because we have jobs or family or are "grown ups".

wow...i think that it is great to see that someone who has been around for that long can still move like that. It is really inspiring. Most dancers stop dancing when they're less then half his age. I hope that when i am 88 my body is still healthy enough to be able to dance because it keeps me motivated and happy.

So I basically want to be this old man. I love ballet for its physical and mental challenge - it will be such a great way to exercise and prolong my memory, stability, flexibility, posture, and strength as I age.

I think this is fantastic! His enthusiasm is so inspiring. I hope that I am still dancing at that age and think he sets a great example for everyone...even though he is older, he is still working on and striving toward being the best he can be!

There is just something so precious to me when I see elders and children dance - it often brings tears to my eyes. Both elders and children often embody such an abandon to their experience with dancing - it is what I strive for when I dance, rather than getting caught up in "being good" or other self-judgments.

all i can hope, is that i am still active at that age, if i am still alive that is.
